Bustling noise, children playing, laughing, running, and being active during play time at preschool is a vague memory I have. I was able to watch this while I was only able to crawl on the floor in a full leg cast which was to help shape my foot and stretch its tend on safter a surgery when I was around 3 years old, according to my mom. I would army crawl to play with kids but I was always much slower. I was born with clubfoot. It has been somewhat corrected but I still struggle with it, having several surgeries throughout my life. This early memory was the beginning of my days of school being full of challenges.

During elementary school, I was obviously physically slower than other kids, so I was picked last if at all, for team games. It can wear on a child’s confidence. I also struggled with reading and and spelling despite all the time my parents worked with me.I was then diagnosed with dyslexia. Again, school was tough and kids are not always nice when you are different.

Some teachers didn’t understand, and thought I was lazy. Around this time, art became my savior. I was good at drawing, creativity and art in general even at a young age. I could forget about the hardships of school and create pictures and paintings, and pour my feelings into my art. My parents saw that it made me happy, and they supported my with my artistic aspirations.
