I continued to use art as an outlet!

I continued to use art as an outlet, I always had a doodle pad with me in every class especially if I was anxious. But I also realized if I could get through difficult classes, maybe art could be a permanent part of my life. So I went to a small community college, and focused on general education classes taking some art classes along the way. Currently I have transferred to Northern Michigan University where I am getting A Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. I am happy at creating and learning with different mediums, but what has been the most rewarding are the people and instructors that give feedback. I am growing and continuing to grow. Art has so many layers, meanings, and purposes which is what makes it so wonderful for everyone. One thing I know is that I will never be the fastest runner, reader or best speller, but I will be happy in my profession and always kind to those who struggle. I will always remember to
celebrate the positives in life.

I think the quote from Thomas Edison resonates with me in my journey, “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up.” It is easy to give up, it is hard to fail, get up, and try again, but that is what my childhood consisted of, and has shaped me into a resilient person today, who loves art.
