The Academy of Special Dreams Foundation and The Alhambra Rotary Club in collaboration with Mazatlan North Rotary Club and Cutura Mazatlan were able to donate more than 30 wheelchairs for very low income families living with disabilities in the City of Mazatlan, Sinaloa Mexico.
More than 30 families were very happy happy to receive their wheelchairs! “My mother has been in bed for more than 7 months because we did not have a wheelchair” said one of the wheelchair’s recipients.
Besides giving away more than 30 wheelchairs, Michael Dergar founder of The Academy but also a proudly Rotarian provided 14 scholarships to emerging artists and 2 group scholarships Thanks to the generosity of Helen Woo.
“I give many thanks to The Alhambra Rotary Club for supporting our Monarca Project to benefit people living with disabilities in Mexico and also my deepest thanks to my dear friend and mentor Mrs. Helen Woo for believing in my mission of inclusion and art”.
“We exited our expectations” said Michael Dergar. Now, we are working together with Cultura Mazatlán fundraising for and elevator to make the famous Angela Peralta Gallery more accessible.
