Open Call Uniting Borders 2026 “Identity”

The Academy of Special Dreams Foundation, with the generous support of the California Arts Council, and in collaboration with BAUPRES, is honored to invite you to participate in Uniting Borders 2026: “Identity”, an international inclusive art exhibition.

Uniting Borders 2026: “Identity” celebrates cultural heritage, origin, and collective memory through art. This edition places special emphasis on traditional Indigenous embroidery and textile arts, recognizing these practices as living languages that convey history, territory, resilience, and identity.
The exhibition will present an international collection of artworks and textiles, created by artists with and without disabilities from California and beyond. Each work will reflect the artist’s cultural roots and personal identity, uplifting voices that have been historically underrepresented.

This project aims to:
Honor and preserve Indigenous and textile traditions
Promote disability inclusion within international cultural spaces.  Encourage intercultural dialogue through art.  Highlight the resilience, creativity, and diversity of participating communities.

We welcome artists working in textile arts, embroidery, traditional practices, contemporary art rooted in cultural heritage, and interdisciplinary approaches exploring themes of identity and origin.

Please email your written art project proposal along with one JPEG image to specialacademy@gmail.com.
All submissions must be received no later than June 1, 2026.

Exhibition time:  September 2026

Reception: September 16, 2026 time:  5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M.
