While I never describe my impairments as failures, I mark my success by my constant persistence through adversity. I have faced many trials, from systemic Lupus and End Stage Renal Disease. I believe I deserve an opportunity because I have the strength and determination to achieve my goals, no matter what hurdles I must overcome and because I want to use my education to help others to find their own success.
This support from the Academy of Special Dreams will help me to get through college. I t will be improving the quality of my life and for others. Receiving the Award would not be just receiving money for me; it will reassure me I have potential for the future of our society.
