Art has always been my own form of personal therapy. Whether I am holding a charcoal stick, a colored pencil or a paint brush, art has always been there for me. Although I do not have a strong preference for any specific medium or subject matter, I tend to gravitate towards using colored pencils to create realistic pet portraits because they give me a sense of tranquility. When I am focused on making the animal as realistic as I can. I am able to block out a majority of my thoughts which stem from my OCD. Most people would look at my realism and think that my style would worsen it, when, quite to the contrary, it helps.
