Bringing Awareness to Artists in the Special Needs Community
Academy Literacy Program
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) defines literacy as the “ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate, compute and use printed and written materials associated with varying contexts. Literacy involves a continuum of learning in enabling individuals to achieve their goals, to develop their knowledge and potential, and to participate fully in their community and wider society.”
The Academy of Special Dreams literacy program will bring reading resources for students in our communities. These reading materials will support our mission of bringing awareness to the special needs community.
This is a great step for Academy of Dreams. Do we have any special needs adults that have expressed an interest in writing. Some of their stories are surely worth telling and now with the Internet they have a growing audience. After all they are here to teach compassion.
