Bringing Awareness to Artists in the Special Needs Community

The Academy of Special Dreams Foundation is happy and honor to welcome Tommy Hollenstein to the Academy Art Club.

My career as an artist began when I wanted to save a memory of my good times with Weaver. I rolled my wheelchair through some paint and had Weaver follow me. I was fascinated by the lines we were able to put down. And that led to my experiments with color.  I use Behr Brand paints for its durability and easy cleanup. The colors remain fresh and vibrant after drying. These factors give me the confidence that my vision of a project will not change over time.

Your dedication and generosity is invaluable. Your support of the special needs community helps increase public awareness, recognition and appreciation of the creative talents of people with disabilities by providing opportunities to many Artists in your community.

The Academy Art Club is based at Alhambra High School for high school-aged with disabilities. Our Club takes place every Thursday and targets high school students who are pursuing either a full- or part-time course of study in any medium of Art. Your support fills a significant gap in services for these aspiring artists who many times face daunting obstacles, financial and otherwise, just to produce their works of Art.
